CLASS TYPES
Kids – Core Skills/ Badges
This is the basic children’s Jiu Jitsu which is focused on the skills required for the first 10 junior badges.  The class format will be very similar each session.
15 minutes warm-up and tumbling practice
20 minutes basic skills training (badges)
10 minutes applied skills training
Kids –  Kumite or Self Defense
This class will alternate themes each week between sporting and self defense applications which will expand on the topics covered in the “Core Skills” class to add to your skill base.
The “Self Defense” nights will be focused on real  core practical skills and as such will not require a gi, just comfortable, practical exercise clothing.
The "Kumite" sessions will focus on the sporting component of Jiu Jitsu teaching relevant skill to those interested in participating in the relevant local tournaments.
Kids – Advanced
This is a class to allow more advanced students (3 or more badges, 12 months training) to develop new skills as well as their core jiu jitsu techniques.

Adults – Fundamentals
This is the adult’s class which will focus on the core skills required in Jiu Jitsu.  The class format will be very similar each session:
25 minutes warm-up and tumbling practice
25 minutes self defense focused skills
25 minutes sports focused skills

Adults – Clinching and Takedowns
This class will be focused on the in-fighting aspects of Jiu Jitsu with a particular emphasis on clinch work and takedowns (including a more traditional judo style approach to throwing techniques)
Adults – Sport or Self Defense
This class will alternate themes each week between sporting and self defense applications which will expand on the topics covered in the “Fundamentals” class to add to your skill base.  The “Self Defense” nights will be focused on real  core practical skills and as such will not require a gi, just comfortable, practical exercise clothing. The "Sports" sessions will focus on the sporting component of Jiu Jitsu teaching relevant skill to those interested in participating in the relevant local tournaments.
Adults – Advanced
Only students of foundation badge or above are eligible to come to this session to work on their more advanced techniques.  This will enable them to develop their own skills further rather than just constantly repeating fundamental skills.

SPECIALIST CLASSES
Stickfighting/Kali
The Stickfighting/Kali class covers fighting at all ranges, closing the distance from long range, through to close quarter striking, and takedowns, grappling and locking. Categories of weaponry involve long stick or staff, single and double stick, classical stick/sword and dagger methods, and translating weapon movements to empty hand, in addition to emptyhand weapon defence.
Training methods include basic striking and combinations, footwork and mobility, partner flow drills, and graduated sparring.

Training is fun, challenging, and (for the most part) safe.

Krav Maga
This basic introductory Tactical Krav Maga session will focus on core self defense skills. It will be suitable to people of ALL ages, fitness levels and abilities.
Content covered will include:
- escapes from grabs
- defenses against common strikes
- how/where to hit

Krav Maga is designed to be nothing but a practical means of street defence, one of the central concepts being that techniques should flow from a person's instinctive reactions, rather than teaching the student to control their natural reactions as most martial arts do, and thus is learned more quickly than other martial arts.

Aikido
Our intention is to offer stand alone workshops to enable existing aikidoka to refine their skills, beginners to learn relevant technique or other martial artists to learn some Aikido that may influence their existing technique.  The sessions will be theme based around a specific topic/aspect of aikido, check out our news page for more information on upcoming sessions.
