CLASS TYPES
Kids – Core Skills/ Badges
This is the basic children’s
Jiu Jitsu which is focused on the skills required for the first 10
junior badges. The class format will be very similar each session.
15 minutes warm-up and tumbling practice
20 minutes basic skills training (badges)
10 minutes applied skills training
Kids – Self Defense
Given
that the our other children’s classes are on sport based Jiu Jitsu
reACTION has decided to run a self defense focused class to address
real life practical self defense skills for our younger members. Given
the more practical nature of this class students should not wear their
usual “gi” jacket rather a more “real” T Shirt and gi pants.
Kids – “Kumite”
To
assist in preparing our younger students for the intensity required in
tournaments we have decided to include a specially designed
class. This class will concentrate on intensity based training
combining pad work and grappling drills.
Adults – Fundamentals
This is the adult’s class
which will focus on the core skills required in Jiu Jitsu. The
class format will be very similar each session:
25 minutes warm-up and tumbling practice
25 minutes self defense focused skills
25 minutes sports focused skills
Adults – Clinching
and Takedowns
This class will be focused on the in-fighting aspects of Jiu
Jitsu with a particular emphasis on clinch work and takedowns (including a more
traditional judo style approach to throwing techniques)
Adults – Sport or Self Defense
This
class will alternate themes each week between sporting and self defense
applications which will expand on the topics covered in the
“Fundamentals” class to add to your skill base. The “Self
Defense” nights will be focused on real core practical skills and
as such
will not require a gi, just comfortable, practical exercise clothing.
The "Sports" sessions will focus on the sporting component of Jiu Jitsu
teaching relevant skill to those interested in participating in the
relevant local tournaments.
Adults – Advanced
Only
students of foundation badge or above are eligible to come to this
session to work on their more advanced techniques. This will
enable them to develop their own skills further rather than just
constantly repeating fundamental skills.
Open Mat
On
the first Saturday morning of each month the advanced class will be
replaced with an open mat training session (at NO charge) for all
reACTION members(and others by invitation). This will allow us to
train together as a club regardless of age, ability or grade.
